Silke Sordyl builds fantasy world with Needle-Felted dolls

When German-born artist Silke Sordyl created her first needle-felted doll in 2014, she was also building a fantasy world for her gnome characters to inhabit. “In my imagination there is a special happy nation of gnomes living in the Earth’s interior. I named them Gieblinge, a German fantasy word that just came up in my mind, and it means to me little people who live in the forest under a big tree with many chambers and hallways inside.

Moppet Dolls: Natasha Tereza’s miniature dolls bring smiles to collectors

For French dollmaker Natasha Tereza, what began as a creative way to relax in her free time has become a way to share her love of art with a larger audience. She started selling her miniature cloth dolls and dollhouse items under the name Moppet Dolls in 2017, but her creative roots run much deeper.

Gayle Wray’s ‘CJDs’ capture personalities in cloth

Doll artist Gayle Wray likes to call her one-of-a-kind (OOAK) creations “CJDs” — cloth jointed dolls. “Like the BJD [ball-jointed-doll], they’re assembled from individually made parts and are posable, but of cloth construction,” she explained.
